Greystone was constructed over a one and a half year period from March of 2005 through August of 2006 when it opened for play. Master golf course constructor and designer, Jim Holmes, along with our Director of Golf, Mike Scurria, are the master minds behinds this devlish design!
" We've rerouted streems, moved dirt, trees, and boulders to build golf courses. The only thing that ever slowed us down was mother nature or stubborn developers." These are the words from the mouth of Jim Holmes one day after a 5 hour meeting with Ron Menville and Mike Scurria spent discussing a single green!
Greystone is a layout carved from three distinctly different types of terrain, including towering pines, bottom land hardwoods, and an open savannah. In each case, much of the natural beauty has been left in place to create forced carries over wetlands, lakes, streams and wildflowers. With its challenging layout, you will find club selection critical. With 14 lakes and all the natural carry, there is little need for a slew of sand bunkers at Greystone - but don't be intimidated!
While Greystone's golf course is recognized as one of the more challenging in the state, playing from the proper tees will make your foray into this golfing experience one you'll not forget. Only a highly skilled golfer should take on the cuorse from the 'tips'! He or she will be forced to shape shots and think through the entire round. Alternatively, playing from the Member Tees removes many hazards and sets up as a comfortable and enjoyable challenge for the average golfer!
